JULY 15th, 1995
Some time after midnight, July 15th, the VRS loaded prisoners who had been detained in the "new" school in Petkovci onto trucks and drove them to Petkovci dam, where they were then executed. At least 2 of the 6 trucks of the 6th Infantry Batallion of the Zvornik Brigade made a total of ten trips between the school and the dam. The Zvornik Brigade Daily Orders record showed that later that morning a ULT and an excavator were working at Petkovci. Two surviving witnesses said they spent the night detained in the school. In the early morning hours of July 15th, both were loaded onto a large truck and brought to the execution site. When they arrived at the execution site it was still dark. The prisoners were then unloaded from the truck in groups of 5 – 10 men. Soldiers shot the groups of men as they got off the truck.
After the firing stopped, the two survivors crawled out of the pile of bodies to a hiding spot near the execution site. During the night they heard more gunshots and the sound of machinery in the dark. When day broke, they saw earth-moving machines loading bodies onto a tractor. They described the execution site as a gravelly spot at the foot of the dam.
