VRS ARRIVAL TO POTOCARI
UN military observers(UNMO) reported that the VRS entered Potocari with 40 to 50 vehicles, including vans, trucks and small military vehicles, and had taken up tank and artillery positions surrounding the Dutch battalion compound. They also reported that the VRS had surrounded the factory outside the compound where thousands of refugees had gathered the day before. In response, UNPROFOR took up a position surrounding the refugees. Ratko Mladic himself arrived on the scene during this period, accompanied by a large entourage of journalists and television cameras. The television cameras filmed scenes of the VRS handing out bread and water to the refugees. Mladic tossed out candy.
