FIRST MEETING AT HOTEL "FONTANA" IN BRATUNAC
Dutch battalion Commander Colonel Karremans arrived at the meeting. There he found General Ratko Mladic and a TV crew. The meeting lasted roughly 45 minutes, which Mladic reportedly used mostly to shout at the Dutch battalion Commander, accusing him and the UN of having wrongfully used air power against the VRS. He blamed the UN for not having disarmed the Muslims in Srebrenica. The Dutch battalion Commander attempted to explain the desperate situation of the thousands of inhabitants who had gathered in Potocari. Mladic responded that the Dutch battalion Commander should return for a second meeting at 2330 hours, and that he should bring with him representatives of the refugees, and if possible, someone from the civil authorities.
