VRS GENERAL MILAN GVERO

TELEPHONE CONVERSATION
The acting UNPROFOR Commander spoke with General Milan Gvero, Deputy Commander of the VRS, at 1810 hours. The UNPROFOR commander told Gvero that, while the NATO aircraft had been withdrawn from the area, they could be recalled at any time. He also informed him that the Dutch battalion Commander had been instructed to contact the VRS in order to obtain a ceasefire. He further stated that he would defend his troops if and when attacked and requested that the Dutch battalion soldiers currently being held by the VRS be released immediately. General Gvero pledged to "look into the situation" and to revert back the following morning.
