ASSESSMENT OF THE SITUATION IN SREBRENICA
United Nations military observers in Sector North-East provided an assessment of the situation in Srebrenica. Their report indicated that the Dutch battalion observation posts and personnel had been directly targeted, that the Dutch battalion Commander colonel Karremans had refused to release weapons to the ARBiH when they had requested them, and that the Dutch battalion soldiers did not have the capacity to control the situation and prevent advances into the enclave, adding that "this has left the civilian population, the ARBiH and Dutch battalion at the direct mercy of the VRS."
VRS soldiers entered observation post "Uniform" and disarmed the crew.
